Psychological Testing and Assessment

Psychological Testing provides information about an individual’s emotional and personality functioning. Clients often seek this type of evaluation at the recommendation of their therapist to help clarify a diagnosis and/or inform their treatment planning.

Psychoeducational Testing provides information about a student’s cognitive and academic functioning to support their understanding of their areas of strength and areas of challenge. Pronounced areas of challenge may indicate that the student has a learning or attention disorder and needs special education support (e.g., IEP-based services) as well as accommodations for standardized testing (e.g., SAT, ACT, GRE, etc.). The results of the assessment will help determine which remedial interventions and accommodations an individual student needs. Regardless of the presence or absence of a diagnosed disorder, every student can benefit from knowing more about their learning style, the strengths they can capitalize on, and the challenges they can work toward ameliorating.

IQ Testing for private school admissions and AA/GT inclusion provides the information required by many private schools for elementary school admissions. In addition, IQ testing can provide an independent evaluation of a student’s abilities that may support their inclusion in public school-based differentiated services (AA/TAG/GT).
